Lecture Title: Research on Mesoscale Particle Dynamics of Multiphase Reaction Fluid

Speaker: Professor Li Shuiqing

Lecture time: September 21, 2017 (Thursday) 15:00 pm

Lecture Venue: Minzhu Lake Lecture Hall, Area A

Lecture content:

The dynamics of discrete phases in multiphase flow and reactive flow (ie combustion) is one of the important scientific issues in the field of engineering thermophysics. The generation and control of fine particulate matter is currently a key problem in the environmental field that has attracted much attention and needs to be solved urgently. The source of its formation is closely related to the energy, machinery, chemical and other industries. Specifically, the formation and deposition of fly ash particles in the combustion process, and the synthesis and regulation of materials in high-temperature environments are similar, and both need to understand the force and self-action process between different-scale particle media on a mesoscopic scale; The problems caused by dust particles in the process of moon and deep space exploration have accelerated the urgency of such research. In addition, the transport properties of fine particles on the micrometer scale are also one of the important international academic hotspots in the fields of complex fluids, colloidal science, and soft matter science. In view of the fact that the discrete granular medium on the mesoscale is difficult to express by continuum fluid dynamics and statistical thermodynamics, the reporter used the methodology of molecular dynamics for reference and developed a particle discrete dynamics method suitable for multi-physics and multi-phase reaction systems ( DEM), combined with some examples in energy and environmental engineering, such as fine particulate matter combustion generation mechanism and diagnostic methods, coordinated control of ultra-low fine particulate matter emissions, coal-fired boiler fly ash particle deposition mechanism, moon dust deposition and accumulation, etc. to systematically introduce the research work .
